On-Site Shred helps with Hurricane Ike Clean-Up
September 29, 2008
"I think too often we hear of what goes wrong and very little of what goes right. I think they say if you do a good job, a person will tell two people, do a bad job and they will tell eleven...
I’ve been putting the truck to work this past week. Hurricane Ike left behind quite a mess, which means a lot of wet paper.I happened to be stopped at a gas station when a guy walked up and said 'can you shred wet paper'. He was with a restoration company doing work for an insurance company whose roof collapsed and soaked 6 floors. I went and spoke with the lady who was in charge of the clean-up. They have been customers of (a national company) for years, but when she asked if they would come out and shred their wet paper, the national company said they wouldn’t do it. Well, 120,000 pounds later, the UltraShred truck performed beautifully. For three straight days the truck ran without missing a beat and not one paper jam. Even with the back and forth from the recycler, the truck was able to do 40,000 pounds per day (and I picked up a new client) I thought the truck might get a break today as the job I had scheduled was for 4 pallets. Turned out to be 37 pallets. I have to go back tomorrow and finish that one up. So for 5 straight days the truck has taken some serious paper down and performed great. It definitely lives up to the hardest working truck in the industry."
